THE MANHATTAN PROJECT

The Manhattan Project was the code name for the U.S governments secret project before world war two, and later culminated into the creation of the atomic bomb.

Rumors were spreading that Japan and the Nazis were plotting the creation of a magnificent weapon, The Atom Bomb. In efforts to put the aliance one step ahead of the axis powers, america began a project that would be lead by General Leslie R. Groves. The projects purpose was to create the Atom bomb, this project would later be title The Manhattan Project.

Americas goal was to have a "bigger stick than the other guy."

Groves established three large engineering and production centers at remote U.S sites; the clinton engineer works at Oakridge Tennesee; the hanford engineer works in eastern Washington state; and Project Y a code-named site 100 miles north of Albuquerque at Los Alamos, NM.

And it was exactly that, other countries and scientists racing to develop the best and most lethal war weapon ever created. I would say that the race began on october 9 1941. When FDR gave the ok on developments of nuclear weapons.

American scientists and allies raced to unlock the secrets of the best weapons. The first descovered was nuclear fission by Enrico Fermi of italy. Fermi later tested it at the University of Chicago and it was a success. After, more and more peices started to fit to the buliding of the atomic bomb.

After six months of intense searching, fighting, and developing, the United States dropped the atomic bomb, named "little boy." It was dropped on monday August 6th 1945.
And again on August 9th 1945,dropping the bomb appropriatly named "fat man."

This is a photo of the mushroom clowd that was produced by the atom bomb.
This is a photo of the so called
"Hitler's bomb" . the nazis would have
it beleived that they had already
developed an atom bomb but they
had not.

This is a photo of the awesome power of the atom bomb. The U.S. dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, Japan on August 6,1945. This is a primary source photo that shows the results of the atomic bomb.

In conclution The Manhattan Project was an incredible success and can be argued as the reason the alliance won WWII.
